In partnership with schools, West Cook Y is committed to closing the achievement gap

0

The Y closes the academic achievement gap with programs that improve student readiness, engagement, and academic achievement, while helping scholars grow emotionally and physically. Third-grade reading skills predict high school graduation.

In partnership with River Forest School District 90, Power Scholars Academy TM is a five-week summer program designed to not only address learning loss in math and reading but also promote physical and social-emotional growth. Scholars receive strong academic support from local certified teachers through an evidence-based curriculum designed to improve math and literacy skills with activities focused on phonics, writing, and reading. Students can also take part in a range of enrichment activities where students can enjoy physical activity, cooking lessons, improv/drama lessons, drumming music and dancing!

Thanks to the support of our schools, families, WCY members, community partners and donors, students participated in over 240 hours of math and literacy, gaining up to 3 months of learning. Your support enables the Power Scholars Academy TM to be offered free to families. Invest in our students today and help close the achievement gap by donating to www.westcookymca.org/give.
