The Poolsbrook Primary Academy in Chesterfield was recently part of the Flying High Trust, a top five multi-academy primary trust in the country.
Now Principal Louise Parker says there is even more to celebrate as the school has learned that it will receive an investment to update its outdoor spaces, including a new outdoor classroom and the Forest school.
Louise said: âOver the summer our outdoor spaces will be transformed to include a forestry school area and an outdoor classroom.
“We hope that the works will take place during the summer holidays and will be ready for the return of the children in September.”
The school recently funded a brand new Trim Trail, which is popular with children, and Nick Layfield, COO of The Flying High Partnership, announced that an additional investment has just been approved.
Nick said: âThe school already benefits from a newly installed perimeter fence, pedestrian access gates and an intercom system which improves site safety for all.
âIn addition, funding for a new outdoor classroom has just been approved, which will provide additional space for the school to develop its forest study program.
The school will also see a refreshed and expanded reception area and an upgrade to the fire system.
Nick added: âAs a Trust, we are delighted to be working with the school to ensure that the learning environment provides children with a wide range of experiences and opportunities to support their education, health, well-being and their overall development.
âPoolsbrook has a wonderful outdoor space, quiet, secluded and welcoming. Our next steps are to develop the area improvement offer for children throughout the school.
Principal Louise spoke about the new Forest School and how it will support children, connect them to nature and build their confidence. She said: âGetting out, discovering and exploring the natural environment is essential for the well-being of children and adults.
âChildren tell us how much they love being outdoors and learning becomes especially memorable for children.
âWe are also fortunate to have a staff member who recently completed their Forest School Award and look forward to improving our curriculum and providing additional opportunities for our children.
âIn fact, we are very excited about the future of Poolsbrook. Our motto is “Tread young minds for a better future”. Our children deserve the best and we are committed to providing them with the best possible opportunities. “
