Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will today launch the main initiatives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. In addition to this, the Minister will also virtually unveil a booklet on the achievements of one year of the implementation of the NEP prepared by the Department of School Education and Literacy of the Ministry to commemorate one year of the implementation of the NEP-2020.
The initiatives to be launched by Mr. Pradhan include the Bharat FLN tools of the National Initiative for Reading Proficiency with Comprehension and Numeracy (NIPUN). Mr Pradhan and Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Dr Virender Kumar will launch the book ‘Priya’ – Accessibility. It is developed by NCERT in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of People with Disabilities to anchor the concept and importance of accessibility in children from their formative years as a movement towards inclusive education. The Ministry has achieved 62 milestones during this year that will transform the school education sector. These include: NIPUN Bharat Mission on Fundamental Literacy and Numeracy, Alignment of the Samagra Shiksha Program with NEP 2020, Vidya Pravesh – a three month school preparation module, National Architecture Master Plan of digital education (NDEAR), capacity building of secondary teachers under NISHTHA, Assessment reforms and digital content on DIKSHA. The program will be attended by senior officials of the department and heads of autonomous institutions and senior officials of the department of school education from all states and territories of the Union.
